O lux beata Trinitas

O Trinity of blessed light

The Hymns of the Breviary and Missal

  1. O lux beata Trinitas,
    Et principalis unitas,
    Jam sol recedat igneus,
    Infunde lumen cordibus.
  2. Te mane laudum carmine,
    Te deprecemur vespere:
    Te nostra supplex gloria
    Per cuncta laudet sæcula.
  3. Deo Patri sit gloria,
    Ejusque soli Filio,
    Cum Spiritu Paraclito,
    Et nunc et in perpetuum.
  1. O Trinity of blessed light,
    O Unity of princely might,
    The fiery sun now goes his way;
    Shed Thou within our hearts Thy ray.
  2. To Thee our morning song of praise,
    To Thee our evening prayer we raise;
    Thy glory suppliant we adore
    Forever and forevermore.
  3. All laud to God the Father be;
    All praise, Eternal Son, to Thee;
    All glory, as is ever meet,
    To God the Holy Paraclete.
Liturgical Use: Vespers hymn for the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity. The Roman Breviary text of this hymn is the same as that of the Vespers hymn for Saturday, No. 29, with the substitution of amorem for lumen in 1, 4. The text given above is the Original Text with a translation of the same J. M. Neale. Compare the above Latin text with the Revised Text, hymn 29.
